CONCORD — Chief Thomas Judge reports that the Concord Fire Department conducted a confined space rescue on Tuesday after a construction worker fell into a hole at a home that is currently being demolished.
On Tuesday, May 14, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Concord Fire was called to 63 Bruce Road for a report of a fallen construction worker. Companies arrived to find an adult male, who was injured and trapped about 6 feet down in a hole inside the structure that is being demolished.
Drawing from their training and experience, firefighters used confined space rescue equipment to extricate the worker from the hole. The worker was freed about 12:10 p.m. The man was transported by Concord Fire to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston for treatment of injuries.
“He was trapped in a relatively small opening and we had some challenges getting him out of there with an injury,” said Chief Judge. “I’d like to thank all of our companies who worked together to bring this rescue to a successful conclusion.”
The Concord Police Department and PRO EMS also responded to the scene.
