Fire Chief Thomas Judge and the Concord Fire Department are proud to report that two town employees have deployed with the Massachusetts Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue team to Vermont to assist amid major flooding.
Assistant Fire Chief Walter Latta and Highway and Grounds Superintendent Aaron Miklosko both deployed with the task force on Sunday night to assist with evacuations and rescues in the Green Mountain State. They will remain on scene in Vermont until the task force is no longer needed.
Assistant Chief Latta is serving as a logistics specialist and as a member of a boat crew, while Superintendent Miklosko is serving as a logistics specialist on his first deployment with the task force.
Both have been working long hours assisting with evacuations in multiple communities, and they have also responded to callouts for both people and pets stranded amid flood waters.
“I, along with Aaron, want to say thank you for supporting us,” said Assistant Chief Latta. “We are doing some good work as proud Concord employees.”
“DPW Director Alan Cathcart and I are proud of Walter and Aaron for the work they are doing in Vermont, and I am pleased that our community can provide support to a state that is in so much need right now,” said Chief Judge. “Mutual aid is a key component of both the fire service and emergency management, and we are proud to be able to support our Green Mountain neighbors in their time of need.
